To earn a General Educational Development (GED®) diploma, candidates must demonstrate a specific level of competency in the following four content areas:

How do I sign up?

The GED® test is administered at the Literacy Council through Pearson Vue testing. Pennsylvania residents (adults 18 years and older, as well as 16- and 17-year-old participants meeting specific qualifications) are eligible to take the computerized exam.

Make your payment. Payment is due at time of registration.

To prepare students for the GED®, the Literacy Council also offers free preparation classes to adults in the Berks community.

Pennsylvania department of education
Everyone who successfully meets the scoring requirements established by the state of Pennsylvania will receive a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This diploma is accepted, by law, as a legitimate high school diploma by business, industry, colleges, and most branches of the armed services.

GED® Transcript Information

All Pennsylvania high school equivalency diplomas and transcripts from the GED® test are handled by DiplomaSender.  Individuals who have passed the GED® tests may request a transcript and diploma through DiplomaSender.com

First time requests are free of charge.  Additional requests are $20.00 per document.  Documents include transcripts, duplicate diplomas, and letters of verification.
